Chuck Merritt, Merritt Environmental

Name: Chuck Merritt

Title: President/LEED AP

Company Name: Merritt Environmental

What was the most challenging part of working during the pandemic?
As a large portion of our work comes from local and regional banks and credit unions, the pause they experienced with pivoting to the SBA PPP loans for customers and away from commercial real estate loans was very challenging as our pipeline was greatly reduced during that time period

What aspects of working from home did you enjoy most?
Wearing casual clothes

What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2020?
Maintaining 100% of the staff. Working with the PPP loan and daily phone calls with the accountant on how to navigate those rules allowed me to accomplish that.

What are your predictions for commercial real estate in 2021?
As with every tremor that has hit the commercial real estate market in the past 30 years, there will be opportunities. The entities that bought the land to build may not be the one that completes the project.
