Charney of Peckar & Abramson to speak at American Bar Association Forum

According to Peckar & Abramson, P.C. (P & A), the firm's chairman, Steven Charney, will speak at the 2012 Fall Meeting of the American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry. Charney will serve as a panelist at a seminar entitled, "Staying on an Even Keel: Avoiding Problems on Green Projects." The seminar will take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Boston on Friday, October 19 at 8:30a.m. The panel will be moderated by Joseph Seibold, executive vice president of ARCADIS. Speakers, including Charney and Edward Gentilcore, chair of the Construction Services Group at Sherrard, German & Kelly, P.C., will explore the ways that sustainable building management practices have become the standard objective for good design and construction. The panel will offer concrete advice for grappling with contracting issues arising from compliance with sustainable construction standards, minimizing community disputes over energy transmission, distinguishes among various rating systems for sustainable projects, and offers options when local building codes conflict with sustainability requirements. Charney's experience includes the representation of contractors and owners in connection with some of the most prominent projects built throughout the United States. He has taken an active role in addressing emerging issues affecting the construction and development industries, both in providing guidance to the industry at large and in counseling clients of the firm. Charney also lectures nationally on matters related to construction contracting, and frequently presents private lectures and training to the nation's leading contractors. Charney has been repeatedly recognized by Chambers USA as a leading attorney in the field of Construction Law in New York. He has also been repeatedly named to Who's Who of International Construction Lawyers, selected for inclusion in the publication Best Lawyers in America, and listed in New York Magazine, as a top construction attorney in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area. Charney is also a fellow in the American College of Construction Lawyers. Charney is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey. He is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and served on the Construction Law Subcommittee of that association. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
