Charles Warner, ME Engineers

Name:  Charles Warner

Job Title: Principal

Company Name: ME Engineers

What was the most challenging part of working during the pandemic?
During the first week of the shutdown the biggest challenge was setting up our home offices to be as efficient as our work offices. This included quickly becoming proficient with the various video conferencing platforms so we could stay connected to our clients and each other. As much as we appreciate the benefits of video meetings, we’ve found that the best way to stay connected with our clients is through regular phone calls.

What was your most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2020?
We were selected to work on a new United Soccer League stadium three days before Thanksgiving–something else for which to be thankful.

What aspects of working from home did you enjoy most?
I’m an early riser so it is nice to get some coffee and a bite and then retreat to home office a few steps away.

What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2020?
Maintaining client relationships, and marketing, without actually seeing anyone.

What are your predictions for commercial real estate in 2021?
I think the attitude of the market and owners is that we are, fortunately, close to having people vaccinated. The need for office space will remain high even though a percentage will be reduced due to those who will not come back to the office and will continue to work remotely. Important company culture and comradery of employees is still best when face-to-face interactions occur in an office setting.
