According to
Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP, Anthony Cummings and Carol Glick have been named of counsel to the firm. Both attorneys are based in the firm's local office and were previously associates.
Cummings has extensive litigation experience. Prior to joining
Certilman Balin, he was a solo practitioner for nine years. Cummings has also served as vice president of Hales & Company in Manhattan. Prior to that position, he was assistant vice president of First Union Securities in Charlotte, N.C.
Cummings has taught forensic examination and business law as an adjunct assistant professor of forensic examination at Touro College School of Health Sciences and as an adjunct assistant professor of law at Hofstra University Zarb School of Business.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics from Hofstra University, his Juris Doctor from the Hofstra University School of Law and his Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Cummings is admitted to practice in New York State and before the United Stated District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the United States Supreme Court. He has achieved the highest professional rating from Martindale Hubbell.
He is a member of the Amistad Black Bar Association of Long Island and serves on the Board of Directors of Hope for Youth, Inc.
Glick has extensive experience in all aspects of Chapter 11 reorganization cases, representing debtors-in-possession, creditors' committees, a court appointed examiner and secured and unsecured creditors. Her experience also includes representing debtors and creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases and engaging in bankruptcy litigation on behalf of a chapter 7 panel trustee.
Prior to joining
Certilman Balin, Glick served for nine years as a law clerk to the honorable Dorothy Eisenberg, United States Bankruptcy Judge, at the Alfonse D'Amato Federal Courthouse, in Central Islip.
Glick earned her bachelor of arts, summa cum laude, in Humanities and Social Sciences from Adelphi University in 1987. She graduated from Hofstra University School of Law in 1990. While a law student, Glick served on the Editorial Board of the Hofstra Labor Law Journal.
Glick is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut, as well as the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. She is a board member of The Safe Center LI.
In additon, Elizabeth Schlissel joined the Litigation Practice Group at
Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP as an associate. Prior to joining the firm, she was a litigation associate at an insurance defense firm where she handled litigation cases involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, professional malpractice and negligence claims.
Schlissel was an assistant district attorney for Nassau County for three years. During her tenure, she was in the District Court Bureau, Driving While Intoxicated Bureau, Search Warrant Bureau, Grand Jury Bureau, and, most recently, the Appeals Bureau/Mental Health Unit. She tried numerous cases including the prosecution of assaults and drug offenses.
She also served as a legal intern for the honorable Dorothy Eisenberg, United Stated Bankruptcy Court, EDNY; the honorable Leonard Austin, Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Nassau; and as a summer associate at Forchelli, Curto, Crowe, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo & Cohn, LLP.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law in 2009. She was a member of the Hofstra Law School Mock Trial Team and competed at the national level. She was also a member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA), the American Inn of Court, and Hofstra Law Women. Schlissel earned her Bachelor of Arts with a major in political science and a minor in art history from Boston University in 2006.
She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, and American Inn of Court, Theodore Roosevelt Chapter.
Schlissel is admitted to the New York State Bar.
