Gillen promoted to project manager at Stalco Construction, Inc.

Stalco Construction, Inc. has promoted Amber Gillen to project manager. Gillen joined Stalco as an assistant project manager in 2012 and has since managed several significant healthcare and educational projects in the Greater New York area. These included the new $6.3-million MRI Suite at the Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook; the $1.9-million SUNY College of Optometry laboratories in Manhattan; and the $815,000 Nassau University Medical Center Catheterization Laboratory in East Meadow. "Amber is a crucial member of Stalco's healthcare construction practice and this promotion reflects her outstanding managerial capabilities and technical expertise," said Stalco principal Kevin Harney. "She will support our expanding medical construction services group, which has completed projects valued in excess of $30 million in the last year, as well as Stalco's educational construction group," Harney said. Gillen's responsibilities include complete project management in pre-construction, delivery, and close-out phases. She manages value engineering and constructability analysis, budgets, development of subcontractor bid packages, construction quality and schedules, and post-construction client support. As project manager, Gillen currently manages the $3-million, 38,000 s/f Nassau University Medical Center Primary Care Center in East Meadow, N.Y., and the $1.5-million MacArthur High School cafeteria renovation in Levittown. She had previously served as assistant director of hospital construction at the Stony Brook University Hospital and as a project manager and assistant project manager at Wright & Company and Racanelli Construction. She holds a dual bachelor of arts degree in sociology and education from SUNY Stony Brook University.
