New York, NY Breaking Ground, has appointed Andrew D’Amico to its board of directors. D’Amico is founding president and CEO of Urban Atelier Group (UAG), a boutique construction management firm. UAG’s culture is rooted in the ethos of an atelier, viewing itself as a creative workshop where each member has a voice and the ability to elicit change. The firm offers expertise, accountability, and transparency at every stage of the construction process, and some of its most notable and recent work includes Bronx Point, Olympia Dumbo, 100 Flatbush, and Morgan North.
“We are so pleased to welcome Andy to the Breaking Ground team,” said Brenda Rosen, president and CEO of Breaking Ground. “Andy joins us at a critical time as we push toward delivering over 1,200 new supportive and affordable apartments across New York City in the next five years. His breadth of experience in real estate development and construction management will be a strong addition to the board. We look forward to his contributions and are honored that he chose to devote his time and talents to our mission.”
“Andy will help us ensure that Breaking Ground remains at the forefront of nonprofit real estate development in New York City. He is an industry expert and shares our dedication to delivering and sustaining exceptional housing for our most vulnerable neighbors,” said Michael Franco, chair of Breaking Ground’s board of directors and president of Vornado Realty Trust.
“I am humbled to join the Breaking Ground team,” said D’Amico. “I’ve long admired the organization for its commitment to developing supportive and affordable housing for our community, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity play a role in ensuring our neighborhoods are supported. Residing in New York City for nearly 25 years, founding my firm, and raising my family here, I recognize the importance of positively impacting the built environment as it's part of my life.”
Prior to founding UAG, D’Amico was vice president at Hunter Roberts Construction Group and pre-construction manager at Clark Construction.
Breaking Ground is a nationally respected leader in efforts to end homelessness and is among the largest developers and managers of supportive housing in the nation.
