BOMA New York hosts Annual Holiday Luncheon on December 8th; Named recipients of 2017 Civic Betterment Award

NEW YORK, NY The Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater New York (BOMA NY) hosted its 2017 Annual Holiday Luncheon at the Grand Hyatt New York on December 8th, 2017. To celebrate the season, 500 industry leaders, association members and guests attended the event filled with networking opportunities and surprise entertainment. During the event, BOMA NY named the recipients of its scholarship program and the winner of the 2017 Civic Betterment Award. The 2018 scholarship recipients include: Brendan Fitzpatrick, JLL; Sandy Forbes, JLL; Nicholas Fusco, Cushman & Wakefield, Inc.; Gloria Gavilanes, CBRE, Inc.; William Hurd, Jr., SL Green Realty Corp.; Georgiana Rolon, Equity Office Properties LLC; and Paul Sciallis, H & R Property Management.

The Civic Betterment Award is given every year to a NYC-based organization and recognizes their dedication, time and commitment to enriching the lives of those living in NY. This year’s honoree, the Kids for Kids Foundation was established in 2008 by a group of NYC professionals to provide support and awareness on behalf of children and families battling catastrophic diseases.

In his final remarks as president of BOMA NY, Jim Kleeman touched on the successes and milestones the association achieved over the year. Kleeman also presented the President’s Award to three BOMA NY members whose commitment has contributed to the association’s advancement. This year’s winners are: Tom Krol, LEED AP, Donnelly Mechanical; Deborah Tomasi, Boston Properties, Inc.; and Ron Zeccardi, The Moinian Group.

BOMA NY’s 2018 board leadership and newly elected officers and directors were sworn in by Robert Brierley, BOMA Fellow, chair and CEO for BOMA International. The officers include: President, Ronald Zeccardi, The Moinian Group; VP, Hani Salama, PE, LEED AP, Capital Properties; treasurer, Matthew Duthie, RPA, JLL; secretary, Cynthia Boyea, RPA, CPM, CCIM, Paramount Group, Inc. 

The newly elected directors include: Mark Landstrom, RPA, Tishman Speyer Properties; Kevin Lillis, RPA, ABS Partners Real Estate, LLC; Rosemarie Subasic, CFM, LEED AP, Hines as agent for Morgan Stanley; Michael Sullivan, RPA, FMA, MSRE, Edward J. Minskoff Equities; Deborah Tomasi, Boston Properties, Inc.

Durwood Fincher Performs for BOMA NY and Guests

The event featured surprise entertainment from corporate comedian, Durwood Fincher, also known as Mr. Doubletalk. Fincher has had the opportunity to regale most of the Fortune 500 companies with his personalized comedic acts and is frequently featured on network television series’.
