The Building Owners & Managers (BOMA) of greater Rochester's board of directors has voted to create a new committee called "community partnership & public media." The committee will be spear-headed by Kevin Telga, BOMA director at large and past-president (1996-98), United Technologies Otis. Committee members will also include: Anthony DiBiase, executive director of the Rochester Housing Authority; Gail Cooley, property manager of the University of Rochester; and Robert Tait, president of Broadstone Properties, LLC.
The establishment of this committee is to promote BOMA's involvement in the city and the surrounding area. BOMA is in the process of partnering with several community groups and opening dialogue with community leaders such as the city's mayoral office.
The mission of the community partnership & public media committee is to establish BOMA as a community leader and assist in informing potential partners with what BOMA can do to better support the area's business community. BOMA has already collaborated with the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, United Way of Greater Rochester, and the city's "Clean Sweep" initiative.
Internally, they intend on working closely with their programs, membership and website committees and also assisting their members by keeping them informed of what is happening in their own back yards. They are hoping to partner with local television, radio and newspapers, such as the D&C, Rochester Business Journal and New York Real Estate Journal.
