Boddewyn Gaynor Architects, D.P.C. has designed a branch facility for a pediatric allergist at 111 East 80th St. on the Upper East Side.
The 900 s/f ground-floor space has its own street entrance and includes a reception area, two examination rooms, an office, a pantry and storage space. The premises previously served as a dentist's office and was reconfigured to meet the needs of the new tenant.
The practice is operated by Drs. Irwin and William Rappaport. Their primary office is located at 530 East 20th St.
"Since this is an allergist's office that caters to children, we selected materials that are resilient and at the same time bright and appealing," said Alan Gaynor, AIA, partner at Boddewyn Gaynor Architects. "We incorporated vinyl flooring, colorful paint and furniture with durable fabrics to create a space that is comfortable, yet will withstand heavy use and traffic."
"Due to limited supply, it is increasingly difficult for physicians to find Manhattan addresses with ground-floor space," said Michele Boddewyn, AIA, president. "In this case, we were able to transform an existing medical space into a fresh space that works perfectly as a branch location."
Boddewyn Gaynor Architects offers full-service architecture, interior design and planning services to a wide range of corporate, not-for-profit, retail and institutional clients. The firm's work ranges from providing highly individual designs for image-conscious clients to creating innovative solutions to re-purpose older structures for new uses.
