Bessellieu of Parsons Brinckerhoff receives COMTO's Shirley A. DeLibero Award

Tracey Bessellieu, vice president and director of talent at Parsons Brinckerhoff, received the 2014 Shirley A. DeLibero Award as part of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials' (COMTO) Women Who Move the Nation Awards program. Founded in 1971, COMTO was created to provide a forum for senior-level minority professionals in the transportation industry. The mission of COMTO is to ensure a level playing field and maximum participation in the transportation industry for minority individuals, businesses, and communities of color through advocacy, information sharing, training, education, and professional development. The organization sponsors its Women Who Move the Nation awards program every March to coincide with Women's History Month. "Just as it led the way in providing real opportunities for people of color, the transportation industry is opening doors for women ... doors leading to executive office suites. COMTO is delighted to continue our yearly tradition of honoring women pioneers across the spectrum of transportation modalities," said Julie Cunningham, COMTO CEO and president. During the March 12 awards program, Cliff Eby, president of Parsons Brinckerhoff's U.S. transportation company, announced that Parsons Brinckerhoff will add to its COMTO scholarships with a fourth annual grant, to benefit a woman undertaking graduate studies in transportation. "With this scholarship, Parsons Brinckerhoff honors Tracey and continues our support of the COMTO national scholars program," he said. Bessellieu has served as the chair of COMTO's national scholars committee since 2011. In this role she is responsible for leading a team of public and private industry professionals that awards scholarships for emerging professionals interested in the transportation industry. She is also a member of COMTO's strategic planning committee.
