As football season approaches, Allied Building Products is "running plays" for customers

The opening day of the 2013 NFL season is less than a month away and with the 2014 Super Bowl being hosted by MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., it seems fitting to talk about how Allied Building Products "runs its plays." With almost 200 locations across the U.S., the Allied Building Products East Rutherford branch and adjacent headquarters are only a kickoff away from MetLife stadium where the first outdoor, cold weather Super Bowl will be played. Many of Allied's team members are avid football fans whose dedication to customers and projects combined with the energy of being located so close to the sidelines of the Super Bowl venue is priceless. The camaraderie built over football and sportsmanship debates at Allied is as passionate as the teams approach to "running plays" for customers. One notable example of this is the completed data center project located near MetLife stadium. The roof for the data center project was quarterbacked by Matt Butler, branch manager of the South Bound Brook, N.J. location. Matt is a seasoned pro in the building material's industry and long time member of Allied's all star team. The South Bound Brook branch was well positioned logistically in the field for an above average passing game on this project. The installation of the data center roof, which measured 220,000 s/f, took nearly four months to complete. Maintaining strategic advantage of the data center required Matt calling the plays as quarterback supported by a dependable team of linebackers, guards, tackles and ends in the huddle. The project was well-choreographed, with the Allied Commercial sales center positioned as linebackers and guards, ensuring materials were properly carried and passed to meet the play clock. The operations team acted as tackle and ends, ready to intercept with cranes and moffetts as needed. The Allied team lined up to support center position, Chris Andersen Roofing & Erecting located in Perth Amboy, N.J. Successfully collaborating and coordinating the players inside the huddle and on the field, from project design to completion requires outstanding communication. A project of this caliber has a lot of moving parts and requires everyone to be adaptable to unpredictable fumbles such as design changes, weather, trucking issues, etc. Unlike the NFL, where the ball and turf are the main materials in the game, the data center roof had various components. The roof was built to withstand the harsh winter environment, much like the predicted Super Bowl 2014 weather conditions. Materials matter, and the JM BUR (Built Up Roof) is comprised of products including Johns-Manville insulation, JM fesco retrofit board, JM tapered panels, JM Glasply 4 and JM Dynaglas F/R cap sheet with JM Dynaflex Flashing rolls for a 25 year warranty. The redundant layers give the roof exceptional resistance to water and weather. Allied Building Products strives to make its customers lives easier on every project. From design specifications to completion, Allied's teams work hard to be the industry leader for building materials.
