Ariel Property Advisors hosts internship program for UES’ Chapin School

Manhattan, NY Ariel Property Advisors hosted its third annual internship summer kickoff program to four graduating seniors from the Chapin School, an all-girls independent day school on the Upper East Side. The students participated in an intensive three-day commercial real estate course from May 29-31, just a few weeks before their June graduation.

The program is led by Michael George, Michael Tortorici and representatives from Ariel Property Advisors’ Investment Sales, Capital Services and Research Divisions.

The program’s highlight included a panel discussion featuring female industry leaders, where students gained insight and advice from the experts and participated in an open dialogue discussion. Grace Betancourt of Tuchman, Korngold, Weiss, Liebman & Lindemann; Kristen Kenney of Rockfarmer Properties; Alyssa Zahler of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank; and Julie Haviv of Ariel Property Advisors engaged the students with a lively Q & A session.

“This group of students came in with great energy and displayed a level of intellect well beyond their years,” said George, operations associate at Ariel Property Advisors. “We were impressed not only by how quickly they absorbed essential information about our industry, but how they were able to put it into action over the span of a three-day program.”

The program is designed to provide young women the opportunity to learn about NYC commercial real estate trends, practices and career paths from industry professionals.

The students were introduced to a wide range of topics, including professionalism in the workplace, general conditions in the NYC commercial real estate market, rent stabilization law, and real estate pricing metrics. Concepts were illustrated through a variety of workshops at Ariel’s midtown office.

“The gathering of these mature young women with seasoned professionals was one of the highlights of the internship as they learned first-hand what it takes to be a success in our industry,” said Tortorici, executive vice president at the company. “It is well-known that women are underrepresented in commercial real estate, but our firm is focused on changing that.”

The soon-to-be graduates concluded the program with a mock-presentation of an investment opportunity to the company’s partners, where they demonstrated their understanding of all the concepts learned during the week.

Ariel Property Advisors is a commercial real estate services and advisory company located in New York City. The company covers all major commercial asset types throughout the NY metropolitan area, while maintaining a very sharp focus on multifamily, mixed-use and development properties. Tri-state capital migrates nationally amid regulation pressure - by Reese Weaver

New York tri-state multifamily investors are increasingly reallocating capital to less-regulated markets across the U.S. as rent control and legislative risk erode returns at home. With over 60% of New York City’s rental housing stock classified as rent-stabilized, the traditional value-add model — buying under-performing buildings,

The death of the generic offering memorandum: What buyers expect in 2025 - by Kimberly Zar Bloorian

There was a time when an offering memorandum (OM) was pretty bare bones, some photos, a few bullet points on income, and a rent roll thrown in at the back. That used to get the job done. Not anymore. In 2025, buyers are sharper, faster, and more selective. They’re looking
