Architect Gati leads Jane’s Walk, sponsored by Municipal Art Society

Queens, NY Fifty or more participants joined architect William Gati, and RHHS Board Members for this walk of Richmond Hill. Richmond Hill North has been granted New York State and Federal Historic District status. Jane’s Walk is sponsored and organized by the Municipal Art Society. The tour theme was advocacy, art, architecture, history, and culture.

This walking tour showcased some of the neighborhood’s historic parks, churches, houses, schools, and shops. All participants enjoyed natural sites, historic homes, neighbors, and landscaping of this neighborhood. The tour was held on Saturday, May 4th. The AIA Queens, for which Gati is the chair of the Historic Architecture Committee, sponsored to tour and gave learning units to members that participated in the tour. Thanks to the RHHS, Helen Day, and the RHHS Board for making this tour a success.

Richmond Hill North is truly a unique neighborhood that has been preserved from rampant development by the beauty of the housing, Zoning regulations, sensitivity by the many homeowners of the area, economic factors, and the massive sizes of the existing buildings.  It is very rare to see a historic victorian demolished in RHHN, but when that does happen, we mourn the loss of one of relics from the past.

Tri-state capital migrates nationally amid regulation pressure - by Reese Weaver

New York tri-state multifamily investors are increasingly reallocating capital to less-regulated markets across the U.S. as rent control and legislative risk erode returns at home. With over 60% of New York City’s rental housing stock classified as rent-stabilized, the traditional value-add model — buying under-performing buildings,
