Altus develops and expands woodworking division

Altus Metal, Marble & Wood, known throughout the New York metropolitan area as a leader in restoration work, has developed and expanded its wood restoration division and is now performing comprehensive metal, marble and wood services for complex and challenging projects for commercial, residential and landmark properties. Altus president and owner Lina Gottesman, who founded the company over 23 years ago, said, "Over the past 10 years, we have developed our team of experienced, highly skilled and talented wood refinishers to the point where we now are able to provide full services for all projects involving the restoration of woodwork as well as metal, marble and all natural stone including granite, limestone and terrazzo. Offering a complete line of services has made Altus far more cost effective for our clients and adds significant value to our work." Buildings with ornamental metal entrances and stone floors will often need work on woods such as mahogany and walnut used in vestibules, elevator interiors, and vintage furnishings such as desks, credenzas, and chairs. Mary Hauptman, president/owner of Hauptman Realty Corp., said, "We contracted with Altus for our stone flooring and then discovered that they do wood restoration as well. The company did a magnificent job with our conference room cabinetry, table, and chairs. They did beautiful work, delivering it on time at extremely competitive pricing." Altus Metal, Marble and Wood, a woman-owned business enterprise (WBE) run by Lina Gottesman and her husband, Robert Gottesman, vice president, serves the greater New York metropolitan area's commercial, residential and historic property owners. The company has performed metal, stone and/or wood restorations for such clients as: Grand Central Terminal; The Port Authority Bus Terminal; Columbia University; The Seventh Regiment Armory; the post 9-11 World Financial Center; The Empire State Building; The New York City Public Library; as well as numerous commercial buildings and hotels, including the Marriott Hotels and Ritz Carlton Hotels.
