2022 Women in Construction: Andrea Mignone, Rose Associates

Name: Andrea Mignone

Title: Director, Marketing

Company Name: Rose Associates

Why should women consider a career in construction?
There are lots of opportunities for growth that you can pursue if you work hard and keep your eyes open. It’s also an industry that draws a lot of amazing, dynamic, and passionate people—both men and women—and that’s energizing to be around.

Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you?
My first boss demanded a high level of work product and was never shy to do a site walk, climb a ladder, or hop on a hoist. She was an example of a confident professional woman in a male-dominated industry. Seeing her on the job empowered me to not be afraid, to be a confident and professional woman in my own job.

Who within your own firm has helped you succeed within the construction industry?
Amy Rose, the CEO and president of my firm has been a true inspiration and has contributed to my growth in this industry. She is passionate about building and shares her knowledge and enthusiasm for development in a way that you can’t help but be excited about. Working with Amy has kept me motivated and inspired me to succeed in this industry.

What advice would you offer to other women getting into the construction industry?
Confidence comes naturally when you have a true grasp of what you are talking about along with the data, research, or experience to back it up. So, even if you are busy make the time to know your stuff and don’t be afraid to speak up confidently and contribute.

What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months?
With over three million s/f of multifamily housing currently under development, it’s difficult to choose just one notable project here at Rose. We are doing so many exciting things with design that are focused on improving the resident experience and creating more functional and memorable amenity spaces. We have leaned into the changes in renter preferences that came out of the pandemic and I can’t wait to see where this takes us as we continue to identify ways to evolve our multifamily offerings.
