2026 Women in Commercial Real Estate: Nina McCann, Long Island Business Development Council

Nina McCann
Associate Director
Long Island Business Development Council

What trend or change in commercial real estate do you believe will have the biggest impact over the next five years?

AI tools will have a significant positive impact on the commercial real estate industry over the next few years by helping professionals work more efficiently, analyze market trends more accurately, and make more informed business decisions. From streamlining research and due diligence to improving property marketing and client communications, AI can enhance productivity while allowing professionals to focus more on relationship-building and strategic thinking. Those who embrace these tools will be better positioned to adapt, compete, and deliver greater value in an evolving market.

What advice would you give to the next generation of women entering commercial real estate?

This post-COVID era has been an interesting and challenging time for young professionals entering the workforce. The job market is competitive, AI is becoming increasingly prevalent, and the hybrid/work-from-home flexibility many professionals value has also reduced in-person interaction. However, face-to-face engagement remains essential to building meaningful, long-term business relationships.

My advice to the next generation of women entering commercial real estate is to be proactive. Embrace AI as a tool to help make your work product more efficient, while also staying current on industry trends.
