2026 Women in Construction: Vivi Tran, JRM Construction Management

Vivi Tran
Senior Project Manager
JRM Construction Management

What do you wish more women knew about the opportunities available in the construction industry today? I wish more women knew about the multifaceted ways they can grow and lead in construction. Early in my career, I thought construction was limited to skilled field work. At JRM, I’ve had the opportunity to grow our Healthcare & Life Sciences group from the ground up: developing marketing materials, earning client trust, building partnerships, and shaping a team that continually improves. These experiences reflect the many paths women can pursue, from leadership to strategy and business development. I’m excited to be in a position to mentor young women on expanding their impact in the industry!

What is one piece of advice or perspective you would share with women beginning their careers in the construction industry? My advice to women in construction is to acknowledge your imposter syndrome, but don’t let it hinder you. Have the confidence to fail, learn, and saturate your life with all the lessons you learn, instead of letting that experience define your progress. Even as a more senior professional, I spend each day in the field learning and growing. The feeling never fully disappears, but staying curious and adding to your knowledge base lets you manage this feeling internally, not by others’ standards.

What is something outside of work that brings you energy, balance or creativity? Mentoring and supporting crisis outreach through ACE Mentor Program and New York Cares keeps me grounded and grateful.

Share one fun or unexpected detail about yourself that colleagues might not know. Boxing keeps me energized. My foremen do a double-take when I pull out my pink gloves and ask, “Wait  — do you really box?”
