What do you wish more women knew about the opportunities available in the construction industry today? This industry rewards grit and curiosity, and people who aren’t afraid to speak up. Construction isn’t all hard hats and job sites – it’s strategy, design, problem-solving, negotiation, leadership and innovation. There’s room for every skill set and every personality type.
What emerging challenge or opportunity do you see shaping the construction industry in the next few years, and how are you preparing for it? The biggest shift I see coming is the pressure to build smarter – faster timelines, tighter budgets, more sustainability requirements, and more public scrutiny, all at once. The margin for error is shrinking. I’m leaning into it – managing ambiguity, continuing to learn, and building relationships across disciplines and agencies. The more tools you have in your toolbox, whether technical, strategic, or interpersonal, the more confident you can be when the industry pivots.
What is something outside of work that brings you energy, balance or creativity? Volunteering on Sundays keeps me grounded. Being part of the community, not just building in it. People first.
