What do you wish more women knew about the opportunities available in the construction industry today? Construction offers leadership opportunities earlier than many industries, with direct exposure to decision-making, financial responsibility, and team leadership. It’s no longer just field-focused — roles span operations, strategy, client management, and innovation. For women who enjoy problem-solving and impact, the industry offers a fast track to meaningful, visible leadership.
What emerging challenge or opportunity do you see shaping the construction industry in the next few years, and how are you preparing for it? The growing demand for speed, flexibility, and cost certainty is reshaping how projects are delivered. Clients expect smarter planning, earlier collaboration, and real-time transparency. I’m preparing by focusing on preconstruction strategy, risk management, and cross-disciplinary coordination to help teams anticipate issues rather than react to them.
What is one piece of advice or perspective you would share with women beginning their careers in the construction industry? Be prepared, stay focused on the details, and never stop asking questions. Complexity and setbacks are inevitable — what matters is how you respond. Learn quickly, adjust thoughtfully, and finish strong by fully resolving issues rather than accepting temporary fixes.
What current or recently completed project, accomplishment or initiative are you most excited about, and why does it matter for your team, clients or community? I’m energized by projects that bring people together — from trade partners to design teams to end users — and turn complex constraints into successful outcomes. These projects matter because they create productive, functional spaces while strengthening collaboration across our industry.
What habit or routine helps you stay focused or motivated during a busy week? Starting the day before the day ‘starts’ — workouts or beating everyone to the office for focused time at my desk.
What is something outside of work that brings you energy, balance or creativity? Spending intentional time with my two young, energetic boys — winters on the mountains and summers out on the bay.
