2026 Ones to Watch - Industry Leaders: Rosalind Tsang, gmp Architects

Rosalind Tsang
Studio Director, New York City
gmp Architects

“Rosalind Tsang is a leader and mentor with over two decades of experience shaping transformative projects and studio cultures in New York City and beyond. A passionate advocate for sustainable, socially driven design, she brings a global perspective and a commitment to collaboration, cultural exchange, and team empowerment.”

How do you inspire, motivate, or mentor others within your organization?

I believe mentorship is a daily practice. I develop people through the work — giving them responsibility, exposure to clients, and clear expectations. In real estate and design, growth accelerates when individuals understand both the technical and business drivers behind a project. I also encourage teams to stay connected to the broader industry and bring new ideas back to the firm. Recognizing strong performance and investing time in people builds confidence and accountability. This is especially important to me as we continue to build and grow gmp’s presence in North America.

What book, podcast, or app has most influenced your approach to leadership?

The podcast Inside Strategic Coach encourages disciplined thinking and openness to new ideas.

What advice would you share with emerging professionals striving to become future leaders in commercial real estate?

At gmp, collaborating with colleagues across our global network has reinforced the value of investing in the next generation of leaders. My advice is always to invest early and intentionally in relationships. Real estate is a long-term business, and credibility compounds over time. Every major transition in my career came through trusted connections, not job postings. I believe in a combination of intention and serendipity—you create opportunities by showing up, contributing value, and following through. Over time, that consistency builds trust, reputation, and new opportunities.
