Shawmut Design and Construction

What has been the most rewarding project or deal you’ve worked on in your career, and why?

My transition from commercial to healthcare construction five years ago was deeply rewarding. Working in occupied hospital environments, navigating active patient areas with complex logistics and phasing, allowed me to see firsthand how our work positively impacts patients and clinical staff. I’m excited to continue this journey at Shawmut Design and Construction and partner with our clients in New York, including NYU Langone Health, New York Presbyterian and Northwell Health.

What skill or quality do you believe is essential for success in your field today?

In our fast-paced, high-stress industry, it’s essential to maintain a calm demeanor that reassures both our clients and team members—while also fostering motivation and a sense of urgency without creating unnecessary emergencies. Striking that balance is critical to success.

If you could change one thing about the CRE industry, what would it be and why?

Creating more opportunities for in-person interactions in place of online meetings and virtual presence.

What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in commercial real estate?

Remember that your unique approach, perspective, and expertise in a specific niche is valuable. Be persistent, and never stop learning and developing new skills.
