What is one project or achievement in your career that you are most proud of, and how did it impact your organization or community?

Becoming the first female vice president at E-J Electric. This achievement had impact on all of the staff at the firm. It encourages not only women that the construction field has endless career possibilities.

What trends or innovations do you believe will shape the future of your field, and how are you positioning yourself (or your firm) to be at the forefront?

The construction industry is a high hazard industry. Therefore, working unsafely is never an option! Being in the construction risk management field, forces you to constantly identify, evaluate and mitigate current and future risks. Risk mitigation starts with safety, which is at the forefront of everything E-J does! We are constantly exploring and implementing the latest technologies to ensure we are the safest company we can be. These have included the latest innovations in PPE, safety inspection software, construction management platforms for safety tracking and fleet technology.

Do you have a hidden talent or a surprising fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know?

I have a flair for interior design and enjoy when family and friends ask me to help decorate.

Who or what has inspired you most in your career, and what advice would you share with the next generation of women entering the A/E/C industry?

The person that inspired me the most in my career is E-J Electric’s CEO, Tony Mann. He saw potential in my career that I didn’t realize was possible and provided the platform to build it. His constant encouragement and belief in my abilities was a driving factor in my success. Advice I would give other women entering the A/E/C industry is to not be intimidated to enter a predominantly male field. If you set high standards for your career and work hard to achieve them, you can have a strong influence on this industry as a woman.

What’s your favorite way to recharge or get inspired outside of work?

Enjoying my time with my family and friends exploring the outdoors recharges me.
