Cassin & Cassin LLP

“I’m proud to nominate Cassia Schaeffer, a partner at Cassin & Cassin LLP, for her leadership and impact. A skilled lawyer trusted by her clients, she combines legal excellence with a deep commitment to community. She is an active mentor and board member, bringing purpose, precision, and passion to every project — making her a true asset to the industry.” Evan Blau, Partner, Cassin & Cassin LLP.

What recent professional milestone or project are you most proud of, and why? As a Partner at Cassin, I’m proud of my work on a NYC housing project through the PACT Preservation Program. It involved 43 parcels, 650 units, and complex financing with multiple stakeholders. The deal addressed 20 years of capital needs and preserved affordable housing for 1,000 residents. Navigating varied goals to reach a common outcome reminded me why I became a lawyer — to solve challenges collaboratively and create meaningful community impact.

What’s one challenge you’ve overcome in your career so far, and what did it teach you? Early in my career, I was told to “run the deal — don’t let the deal run you.” I learned that being organized is key to achieving that. A rule my mother taught me — always be able to find any document in ten minutes — helped me stay on top of complex transactions. My advice to those starting out: ask questions, keep track of the answers, and stay organized. These skills will carry you far. Building a network and staying engaged have opened doors in my career and allowed me to give back through professional and community boards.
