What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2024?
IMEG won the contract to provide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design and services for the proposed new Yeshiva University Dental School to be located at 1131 Bdwy., N.Y. The nine-floor, 157,000 s/f graduate-level dental school will serve approximately 450 students and will include classrooms, lecture halls, a simulation lab, digital and wet labs, offices, and support spaces. The facility also will include public clinics offering general dentistry, pediatrics, orthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, complex care, and special needs services. The project, led by Dattner Architects, will be designed and built in three phases, with a completion date targeting 2026.
What emerging trends will drive investment and development in 2025?
Owners of buildings over 25,000 s/f began reporting annual greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in 2024 under New York City’s Local Law 97. The law is part of the ceity’s long-range plan to cut emissions 80% by 2050. Owners whose buildings exceed the first reporting period’s GHG limits can mitigate fines by demonstrating a good faith effort toward decarbonization as defined by the law. Several paths are available to display a good faith effort, such as submitting a decarbonization plan by May 1, 2025. Such a plan would include an energy audit, building equipment inventory, implementation schedule, and capital plan.
