Which professional organization(s) would you recommend to women just starting out in your industry:

The real estate industry has many subsectors, which means that, for those just starting out, there is a lot to learn and many people to meet. I’ve found that working on a pro bono or volunteer basis with a not-for-profit organization can expose you to topics and industry professionals that you may not encounter in a typical workday. I have personally been able to assist in local landlord-tenant matters since my 3L year of law school, from which I have attained indelible experience, and which has nicely complemented my career in real property tax.

What are the most important factors young women should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with?

I’ve greatly appreciated our firm’s flexibility and understanding as we all try to balance work and life. Be sure to find an employer that views your life away from the office as an asset. Then, you’ll feel supported when you dedicate time to family, friends, side hustles, and passion projects!
