2024 Ones to Watch Rising Stars: Rose McClave, Reed Smith

Rose McClave
Partner
Reed Smith

“Rose ascended to partner at Reed Smith by being a go-to attorney for acquisitions and dispositions, financings, and commercial leasing. Last year, her success was highlighted by significant portfolio transactions worth hundreds of millions of dollars that saw great outcomes for our clients.” - Paul Didomenico, Partner and Chair of Global Real Estate Group at Reed Smith.

How do you balance your rising career with your personal life?

An ongoing balance for work-life is a real challenge but Reed Smith provides the flexibility for an attorney to take the necessary time for and feel as accomplished personally, as professionally. This successful balance benefits from constant attention, so it requires that I am very nimble.

Beyond your professional achievements, what are some of your passions or hobbies?

I appreciate being able to spend time with my family, especially my daughter, by escaping to museums in New York like the American Museum of Natural History. During my honeymoon in Japan, I developed a love of the cuisine, so I enjoy finding new Japanese restaurants in the city.

Who are the key people in your life that have contributed to your success?

Joe Marger, partner at Reed Smith, has mentored me and advocated for my success. Learning from him has given me a good sense of the key points of a deal. With client service, he taught me how to effectively get points across and how to best advocate a client’s position.

Outside of your career, where? else do you seek continuous learning and personal growth??

I seek out industry group opportunities, like attending luncheons with the New York chapter of CREW, a women’s real estate organization, to learn from guest speakers and meet others in the industry. I also stay connected through my alma mater law school, New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate.
