“Building relationships has been key, and Doug has proven himself a trusted advisor to the real estate industry. In just the past year, Doug has advised on deals valued at almost $1 billion in NYC and around the country, each of which required significant commercial creativity given the challenging market conditions.” - Amanda McGrain, Sr. Business Development Manager at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP.
How do you balance your rising career with your personal life? Work/life balance is easier when you love what you do! Living and working in NYC, real estate is a career, passion, (at times) a sport, and ultimately a part of the fabric of life. Being able to draw on experiences from my personal life in my career and vice versa, I’ve found harmony between the two.
Beyond your professional achievements, what are some of your passions or hobbies? I’m involved in several nonprofit and charitable organizations, including Project Destined and I serve on the board of directors of Aging in America, an elder care not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing individuals, families and caregivers the assistance they need to live, work and remain a vital part of their communities as they age.
Who are the key people in your life that have contributed to your success? The greatest good fortune of my career has been to work with my fellow real estate partners, each of whom has been a mentor to me, and are some of the smartest and most commercially-minded lawyers in NYC—Laurie Grasso, Carl Schwartz, and Matt Scoville.
