2024 Ones to Watch Rising Stars: Cristina Rodríguez-Vázquez, FXCollaborative

Cristina Rodríguez-Vázquez
Senior Associate
FXCollaborative

“Cristina has had a pivotal role in FXCollaborative’s cultural and educational projects, from the award-winning new home for Covenant House New York to studies for The New School and the Museo de Arte de Ponce. She has also taken an active role in mentoring junior design staff.” - Michael Syracuse, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Partner at FXCollaborative.

How do you balance your rising career with your personal life?

At  FXCollaborative we have the flexibility of working a hybrid schedule, which has helped me immensely. I’ve found that while working from home I’m kinder to myself. I’m fortunate to have a small garden and taking quick breaks during a hectic day filled with meetings has made all the difference.

Beyond your professional achievements, what are some of your passions or hobbies? I love to cook and am constantly reading and buying cookbooks. A well stocked pantry brings me a lot of joy!

Who are the key people in your life that have contributed to your success? My parents. We traveled often when I was growing up in Puerto Rico, so I was aware of different cities, cultures, and diverse spaces. My dad is a civil engineer, and, along with my mom and aunt, ran a successful construction business, showing me hard work, dedication, and prioritizing family.
