2023 Year in Review: Ian Bel Managing, Olive Tree Holdings

What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2023? This year, Olive Tree Affordable Housing, our affordable housing affiliate, expanded into North Carolina with the acquisition of The Life at Lakeside Villas, a 429-unit, affordable multifamily community located in Wilmington. Now operating across nine states, a capital improvements program is currently underway at the community aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents.

What emerging trends will drive investment and development in 2024? As operators continue to face major headwinds in the lending market, they are likely to continue to look for creative strategies to reinforce their asset level balance sheets. Those strategies will likely include adding new flexible capital partners and greater technology adoption to reduce operational expenses and infrastructure overhead.
