What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? Negotiating insurance programs for the real estate industry is an important part of my job. This year has proven the most difficult in placing insurance for a variety of reasons forcing extremely difficult discussions with our real estate clients and increased premiums with more restrictive coverage at times. I am most proud that despite the current market conditions, I have been able to secure coverage for the real estate industry despite non-renewals and cutting back of capacity country wide. While many clients struggled with the message, clear communication and addressing issues as early as possible has helped our clients understand that despite the situation, we are advocating for them with everything we have.

What are the most important factors women in your industry should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with? Representation matters. I would recommend anyone looking at a firm to research women in senior level positions and gauge a firms respect for women and history of promoting qualified candidates. Be confident enough to have difficult conversations and demand your worth respectfully. Actions speak louder than words so do not be afraid to question a firm’s flexibility to promote people based on their qualifications above all including addressing any additional details that help you feel more comfortable that they have your best interest at heart.

Who inspires you most? What qualities do they possess that inspire you? While I am inspired by many that have paved the way for me, my mother is my biggest inspiration. She came to this country and left her family behind for my father and siblings. Her best quality is her resilience. Despite all of her setbacks in life, she persevered. It taught me to never let anyone make me doubt myself and if I did have a weak moment to push through no matter what. I wouldn’t be where I am without the strength to remain resilient in succeeding in an industry that was generally dominated by men and until this day, she is still reminds me that I have the strength to overcome any obstacles as she continues to remain strong despite all of hers at her age.
