2021 Women in CRE: Jane Roundell, Cresa Global

Name: Jane Roundell

Title: Managing Principal

Company Name: Cresa Global

In the past year, what project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of?
Given the craziness of the last year, I am proud of the fact that I managed to get anything done at all! One high point was that I and a female colleague successfully negotiated a surrender on behalf of a not-for-profit women’s organization, saving them over $600,000.

How do you contribute to your community or your profession?
I support East Norwalk Blue, an organization dedicated to preserving the waters of Long Island Sound as well as the Doe Fund, Salvation Army, and several other charities.

How do you keep your team motivated despite conflicts and obstacles?
I believe in being supportive and always available, no matter how small the issue.

Tell us a thing or two about you that is NOT on your resume or LinkedIn profile?
I am an avid cook and I know how to tango. My husband and I spent a great deal of time practicing our tango on our building’s communal terrace during the shelter-at-home period in 2020. We were nicknamed Fred and Ginger by some of our neighbors.

How do you advocate for your fellow women in real estate?
I often mentor younger female professionals. I also maintain strong, supportive friendships with several women who are my contemporaries at competing firms. We help each other on many levels, even if only to blow off steam when the going gets tough.

What books or social media influencers would you recommend to other women?
“Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg.

Why should women consider a career in commercial real estate and related services?
It can afford a great deal of flexibility and independence as long as one is willing to work hard
