How do you contribute to your community or your profession?
My depth of knowledge in Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) taxation enables me to be part of a small group of professionals that work together to educate the market and help our clients meet regulatory guidelines created with the intent of ensuring an efficient passive real estate investment vehicle. In my role at KPMG LLP, I have the opportunity to teach the next generation of REIT professionals, a major component of ensuring strict compliance with this complex part of the Internal Revenue Code, allowing our clients to enjoy the effectively tax free status afforded to REITs.

Who or what inspires you?
The work I do that inspires me is the value and knowledge I bring to my clients by advising them on REIT matters. Due to my work in REIT taxation, I am frequently involved in the early planning stages of many real estate investment decisions, and I am able to give insight on structures and operations of a variety of real estate asset classes. Being a trusted tax advisor, I am inspired by being an important part of the real estate cycle.
