2020 Ones to Watch: Benjamin Wallack, 3 Point Energy LLC

Name: Benjamin Wallack

Company: 3 Point Energy LLC

Title: Founder

Education: Bachelors, Binghamton University

Which project, deal, or transaction was the “game-changer” in the advancement of your career?
After my 2019 launch of the business, acquiring my first client validated my decision to leave a stable position with added confidence in my abilities to grow my company and those of my clients. I was able to help a family run owner of commercial and retail properties by identifying overcharges incurred by them, and facilitating savings of over $130,000 per year on natural gas costs.

What do you like most about your job?
I enjoy the flexibility to help my customers when they need it most and using creative solutions. Assisting a customer may require initially performing a review without a fee or commitment and identifying savings opportunities, in order to demonstrate their need! Although as an industry we are improving every year, energy can be amorphous and confusing for owners who have bigger concerns. Current regulations set impactful long term goals, but in the short term, my clients need outside expertise to interpret and advantageously manage their utility usages and costs.

How do you contribute to your community or your profession?
Since 2014, I’ve been fortunate to help operate an energy advocacy nonprofit group for CRE, the New York Energy Consumers Council. Our members care deeply about improving our electric grid and advancing clean energy, while making decisions that make business sense for their buildings.

What social media platform do you use the most professionally?
LinkedIn is an amazing place to expand my resources and network. Keeping up with interesting articles and industry news, sharing relevant content with my community, seeing job changes and targeting new prospects. As a small business owner, continuing to stay involved and informed is incredibly important for me.
