2018 Ones to Watch: Steven Goldberg, Member - Real Estate Transactions at Rosenberg & Estis, P.C.

Name: Steven Goldberg

Title: Member - Real Estate Transactions

Company: Rosenberg & Estis, P.C.

Address: 733 Third Avenue, New York, New York 10017

Year that you entered your current field? 2005

How do you motivate or inspire your colleagues?

I try to inspire calmness, clarity and focus in my colleagues. I take time to mentor and pass on my knowledge and experience to younger associates, in the same way, I was mentored.

What are your professional goals for 2018?

My biggest professional goal this year is to advance Rosenberg & Estis, P.C.’s position as a premier New York City real estate law firm and to develop creative solutions and solve complex problems for my clients. I also want to focus on helping my clients grow their businesses while simultaneously mentoring younger attorneys at my firm and in the industry to the best of my ability.

How do you manage the work/life balance?

Given the demands of the real estate industry and the legal profession, achieving a work/life balance is difficult. That said, my family is a top priority and I spend as much time with them as I can. Thankfully, technological advancements have made it easier to manage work and important phone calls while also being there for my wife and children. In my free time, I enjoy going to concerts and spending time outdoors with my family and friends.

Who or what do you attribute to your success?

I am fortunate to have had great mentors who have inspired and trained me through every step of my professional and personal journey. Having been exposed to all spectrums of the real estate world, from the boom days of 2005 to the crash of 2008, has helped me learn from every unique experience.

In addition, one of my strongest traits as a lawyer is my ability to stay calm and focused under pressure. This is an attribute that I have developed over the years, which, combined with my deep knowledge of real estate law and perseverance, has allowed me to achieve a unique and diverse perspective. This combination has enabled me to provide successful counsel to my clients and to excel as a lawyer.
