Name: Elizabeth Marchionni

Title: Attorney

Company: Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck, LLP

Address: 135 Crossways Park Drive, Suite 201, Woodbury, NY 11797

Year that you entered your current field? 2011

How did you get your start in your current field?

I always wanted to be in the legal profession and my experiences leading up to and during law school solidified my interest in litigation specifically. I became interested in the specialties of construction and real estate law through my family members, who are in construction, and my mentors in the legal profession. Since then, I’ve narrowed my field of focus in law to contract review, construction disputes, and surety law by working alongside my peers in the commercial construction division of my firm.

How do you motivate or inspire your colleagues?

I find that my own passion and dedication to the client services aspect of our work is contagious and motivates others on my team.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself in five years as having grown my client base and further developing a niche practice in WMBE/DBE law.

How do you manage the work/life balance?

By relying heavily on technology to keep me on track with appointments and obligations across the board. Like most, I could improve!

Who or what do you attribute to your success?

I attribute my success to great mentors who have taken the time to show me the ropes, and network together. I also believe that strong work ethic and communication skills have contributed to my professional growth and success.

How do you contribute to the future of your industry?

I think that day to day advice of counsel for small and midsize companies, to understand risks and help make business decisions for example, is critical to the growth of the construction and real estate development industry. I also believe mentoring within my legal community is an important feature of contributing to the next generation of the legal profession.

What are your professional goals for 2018?

My professional goals for 2018 are to develop my client base and contribute to publications in my sector.
