What was your most notable project, deal, transaction or professional achievement in 2017?

This year it was interesting to help a client of mine on his penthouse project. He already owned a penthouse and needed to buy more roof space from the co-op and build two more floors, then join them with the existing penthouse. It had a lot of twists and turns, including obtaining permission from both the co-op building’s and my client’s lenders. There was an alteration agreement with the co-op, which allowed them more time to complete the work than might otherwise be allowed, because it was a more complex renovation. There were contracts with several contractors and even an access agreement with the neighboring building. It had all the drama and complexity of a classic NYC high-end construction project. It is well under way now and it was fun to be a part of.
