How have you navigated obstacles to achieve success in your career?

Each and every day of my career I learn something new which is thrilling to say the least. Obstacles have and continue to be both amazing and difficult. But I will say having the experience of 12 years of running a successful business through one of the craziest recessions we have ever seen, has made me focus, learn to “lean in” with grace, don a thick skin, and breathe through day to day stressors. It’s made me the woman I am today, and confirmed how much I love doing what I do.

How do you play your strengths to your advantage in your career?

My drivers have always been to be results oriented and knock things out of the park, and to be a great listener but never a “yes” person. It has been of equal importance to me to retain my humility. I don’t believe bravado has ever won the real race. Taking a genuine interest in clients and people is so much more fulfilling and makes servicing people that much better.

What trends are you seeing so far this year?

I am an obvious believer and have a strong opinion about women’s roles in our industry.    We as women are tough, hardworking, intelligent go getters that aren’t afraid of a challenge.  I see the women in my industry excelling at what they do every day. I’ve see them achieving higher positions, breaking barriers, and being innovative leaders. It’s an exciting time, and there is still heavy lifting to do but it’s pretty amazing to watch a new generation of women striving for and achieving new levels of success every day.

What do you do for fun?

Play with my son Tyson, hang out with my husband and friends, and SLEEP!  Having an 18-month-old has made me love my bed even more <grin>.
