What was your most notable project, deal, transaction or professional achievement in 2016?

While not the biggest deals I’ve ever done I’m particularly proud of the initial rollout for Goldfish Swim Schools. The first unit opened in Garden City with Brixmor.  The second lease was signed in Farmingdale NY for about 11,000. The landlords broker was my son Eric who works at CBRE. It’s the 6th or 7th deal we’ve done together, but the one that he played the biggest part. It’s an opportunity for him to work with some of my clients and to also show he can do a great job on the landlord side.

What project, transaction, market trend or product had the greatest impact on your industry this year?

Entertainment and medical are becoming an increasingly important part of retail. Tenants like Goldfish Swim, Skyzone trampoline parks, bowling, Fresenius, PM Pediatrics, Northwell and many others are taking more and more space in shopping centers. That trend should continue. There are only so many retailers and restaurants doing deals these days.
