How did you get your start in real estate?

Left a position with a Fortune 500 company to start my own business.

What real estate associations or organizations are you a member of?

State Wireless Association (SWAP); New Jersey Wireless Association (NJWA); Wireless Infrastructure Association (PCIA); International Right of Way Association (IRWA), Chapter 15; Monmouth County Association of Realtors (MCAR); The Women Presidents Organization of Monmouth County (WPO); Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC); Supplier Diversity Development Council (SDDC)

What recent project or transaction are you most proud of?

One of the most significant contributions I’ve made to the wireless industry was helping to improve the deployment of wireless infrastructure in New Jersey. In 2011, I collaborated with the PCIA and NJWA to write, develop, and push through New Jersey Senate Bill No. 2989, which exempts certain collocations of wireless equipment from site plan approval. As a result, the legislation has streamlined the process of constructing, modifying and installing wireless networks in the state.

Facilitating the approval process for wireless carriers allows them to improve their coverage areas quicker, which in the end benefits the carriers as well as local municipalities and the public in terms of improved service with fewer dropped calls, especially in 911 situations.

What recent honor, achievement or recognition has meant the most to you and why?

My proudest moment to date was bringing our entire staff together under one roof. Prior to establishing our first corporate headquarters, we were working remotely from multiple locations.

The result has been greater project success and improved customer satisfaction. We have enhanced collaboration across departments, allowing us to work as a team to better serve clients. We offer a wide variety of services and our clients benefit from the unique expertise each of our team members brings to the table. By sharing ownership of a project, experts in areas such as land acquisition and title research can resolve issues more efficiently. Because we encourage our people to be invested in a project’s outcome, they are motivated to exchange ideas, concerns and support each other.

What time management strategies do you find to be the most effective for you?

Prioritizing tasks is the key to managing my time and accomplishing what needs to get done on a daily basis. Each morning at 3:30 a.m., I set aside an hour to review the list of priorities that need to be accomplished that day. This includes looking at where I stand with the three managers who report directly to me. I focus on what we need to do as a team to ensure that our goals are aligned, and how we can successfully meet those goals. Then I rank my to-do list so I can use my time effectively.

I also hold bi-weekly meetings with my partner to review our company goals, examine our client list and create strategies for bringing in new business. Having clear goals and a vision for what we want to accomplish is what sets the stage for our firm’s success.

What advice would you give to a woman who is planning to launch her own business?

Get involved with your local and national trade associations such as WBENC and WPO and take advantage of the many business opportunities they can offer to help expand your company’s visibility, gain access to decision makers and connect with other businesswomen.

It’s also important for women-owned businesses to take advantage of diversity and inclusiveness initiatives to gain traction in the supply chain. I acquired certification through organizations such as the Small Business Administration, Women’s Business Enterprise National Certification, and the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program to help my firm achieve a competitive advantage within the utility and wireless telecommunication industries. These programs continue to play a vital role in supporting CW Solutions’ growth.
