How did you get your start in real estate?

I have been arranging insurance and risk management programs for some of the most prominent real estate management companies – both commercial and residential - in the world for over 30 years.

What have been some of the benefits of being a mentor or having a mentor?

I manage a unit consisting of 14 account servicing professionals. I am a mentor to my employees, serving not only as their leader but as a role model – showing how hard work, loyalty and commitment can lead to individual success. I believe that the saying, “Be good to your people, or someone else will!” means everything. In the professional world, the greatest asset is a good employee, which in turn creates a good team. If you do not make the effort to treat your team with respect, you are gambling with the company’s most vital assets.

Who or what has been the strongest influence on your career and why?

HUB International Northeast’s president and CEO, Marc Cohen has been a strong influence in my career. When I first started at HUB International, Cohen was just joining the firm as producer. I have watched his career evolve into the honorable and knowledgeable leader that he is now. I have become Cohen’s right hand executive, always entrusted to handle the organization’s largest accounts as soon as they come in.

What is the best advice you have received and who was it from?

The best piece of advice I received came from my first boss. As simple as it sounds, it was just to “take some time to laugh.” We all get so wrapped up in the daily stresses of life, whether it be work, family, or finances and it can take a real toll on you personally and professionally if you do not take a moment to laugh!
