How did you get your start in real estate?

I worked at a boutique law firm that specialized in real estate law.

What real estate associations or organizations are you a member of?

Commercial Real Estate Women of New York (CREW NY); Long Island Real Estate Group (LIREG).

What have been some of the benefits of being a mentor or having a mentor?

Mentors are instrumental in growing professionally. I have had the good fortune of being mentored in my career by successful and powerful men and women who are leaders in the real estate industry. As such, I understand and value the importance of mentors. Every year I mentor men and women in the legal profession. I work with each person to help him or her become involved in new activities and step out of the “comfort-zone.”  We discuss personal and professional road-blocks and identify what is needed to grow professionally.  We brainstorm ideas and develop strategies that enable each person to reach specific goals and advance in his or her career.

Who or what has been the strongest influence on your career and why?

I am extremely fortunate to have had wonderful mentors throughout my career. My first mentor was a hard-working partner in a law firm who loved working in real estate. His positive personality inspired me to continue to pursue my career in real estate. Subsequently, I was mentored by experienced female attorneys who were partners in law firms that specialized in real estate law. Not only were they powerful and successful women, but they were leaders in their industry. They each nourished my career, encouraged me to take risks, and influenced the way I network, seek new business, and communicate with colleagues.
