06-19-2014 - NYCREW, local crew chapters Dine For Women In Real Estate; Members will be joined by the Association of Real Estate Women to benefit CREW Network Foundation

The New York Chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women's Network (NYCREW) will join with its sister New York metropolitan area women's real estate associations to raise funds to advance women in their industry at the "Tri-State CREW Inter-Chapter Dinner - A NYCREW, CREW CT, CREW NJ and AREW Joint Event Networking Across State Lines," to be held Thursday, June 19, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Vermilion, 480 Lexington Avenue. Proceeds from the event will benefit CREW Network Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CREW Network and the only foundation dedicating its resources solely towards advancing women in the commercial real estate industry. Its programs educate women and girls about the career opportunities available to them and creating mentoring relationships for those new to the industry. "We see many of our colleagues from AREW, CREW CT and CREW NJ at our events and theirs," said NYCREW 2014 president Laura Walker, senior vice president at Citibank. "But hosting this event as we do every year is special, as it helps the future of our industry by supporting the various programs of CREW Foundation, including scholarships to bring young women into the industry, which means so much to us all." Featured guest speaker Liz Abzug, Founder and President of the Bella Abzug Leadership Institute (BALI), will discuss "Women, Power and Leadership," focusing on the role both the Institute and NYCREW play in mentoring young women. "NYCREW and BALI will be working together here in New York to make a positive impact on the lives of young women who may be considering our industry as a future career," said NYCREW director Beth Zafonte, director of economic development services for Akerman Senterfitt. "This will truly be an investment in commercial real estate's, and our city's future." The event will feature a cocktail reception and full dinner, as well as a raffle of donated luxury items to benefit winners both personally and professionally, including: * gift certificates to the exclusive Guerlain Spa, Bliss Spa and Riccardo Maggiore Salon; * several sets of New York Yankees tickets; * gift cards for Sherry-Lehmann wines and lovely Diamond Club International jewelry; * a private walking tour through GlobeDOTTing Travel; * a photo shoot for a professional headshot; * a Coach purse; * and a Marc Jacobs wallet. Contributions to the Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization will be collected at the dinner, and are deductible as charitable donations. (Raffle ticket purchases are not deductible.) The event is open to NYCREW, AREW, CREW CT and CREW NJ members only. Tickets are $110. Advance registration is required, with the deadline for purchasing tickets 5:00 p.m. on June 12th. CREW Network Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, with contributions deductible as charitable donations for Federal tax purposes. To register for the event, visit http://nycrew.org/node/189.
