03-12-2015 - Santomassimo to host "Brokers Who Dominate Book Club"

After an extraordinary reception for the initial edition of the "Brokers Who Dominate Book Club," author Rod Santomassimo will host the second in his 2015 live webinar series with featured guest F. Bruce Lauer, vice chairman and principal at Cassidy Turley, discussing "How to Attain and Retain Institutional Clients." The webinar will be held on March 12 at noon Eastern Standard Time. Among the topics the two will discuss are Lauer's experiences in building a national real estate advisory company, leveraging institutional relationships, and the changes he's seen as a leader and mentor in a nearly 50-year career. "Bruce Lauer's story is a fascinating one: In addition to being an industry legend, he is a decorated Vietnam veteran, and has been a mentor to me and many other industry professionals," says Santomassimo, Founder and President of The Massimo Group, North America's leasing real estate coaching and consulting firm. "I am so excited to be able to share with our Book Club some of the lessons he taught me when I worked for him, and in the years since." After beginning his career as a staff accountant with Price Waterhouse, then working with The Allen Morris Company, Lauer and three others were equal owners of Clark-Biondi Company, a full service real estate company. Prior to the sale of the company to Grubb & Ellis in 1985, Lauer grew the management to 7 million square feet of office, industrial andretail space in South Florida. In 1988, he co-founded CLW Real Estate Services Group. In 2005 the Tampa-based firm was sold to Lou Varsames and Doug Rothschild. Cassidy Turley acquired CLW in 2013. The webinar, free to all registrants, is an extension of Santomassimo's 2011 book, "Brokers Who Dominate," which profiles 23 commercial real estate professionals in various sectors and at differing stages of their careers. It became an instant bestseller and remains a top commercial real estate tome. The March 12th webinar is the second of six Brokers Who Dominate Book Club webinars scheduled for 2015. The series premiered with Robert Knakal, Chairman of New York Investment Sales at Cushman & Wakefield. Future programs, with dates to be announced, will feature: • May: Faith Hope Consolo, Chairman of Douglas Elliman Real Estate's Retail Group, on "Creating a Personal Marketing Presence in the World's Most Populous Market" • July: Tim Strange, President of Newmark Grubb Levy Strange Beffort, on "The Professional Prospectot" • September: Jason Little, Senior Vice President and Director of Investment Sales at CB Richard Ellis, on "From Rookie of the Year to Top Producer" • November: Jerry Anderson, Executive Managing Director of Sperry Van Ness Florida, on "Thriving in the Cycles of Commercial Real Estate." Santomassimo founded The Massimo Group in 2008 to provide a formal program of personal coaching to commercial real estate brokers of all levels of experience, and has recently expanded the company's services to include consulting on customized solutions regarding recruitment, hiring and management; staff restructuring; and succession and acquisition strategies. In addition, these services are now offered beyond the brokerage community to property management, mortgage brokerage and other real estate-related companies. The firm's clients include representatives from a majority of the most successful companies in the business, including CBRE, Colliers, Cushman & Wakefield, Grubb & Ellis, JLL Lee & Associates, Marcus & Millichap, and many more regional and local firms. The death of the generic offering memorandum: What buyers expect in 2025 - by Kimberly Zar Bloorian

There was a time when an offering memorandum (OM) was pretty bare bones, some photos, a few bullet points on income, and a rent roll thrown in at the back. That used to get the job done. Not anymore. In 2025, buyers are sharper, faster, and more selective. They’re looking
