Carr of Margules Properties: Life is what you make it

Name: Leah Carr Title: Managing Director, Acquisitions Manager Company Name: Margules Properties, Inc What year did you start your career in commercial real estate: 1994 What recent project or transaction are you most proud of? Margules Properties has a history of buying and managing properties in New York City. Over the last few years, we have acquired several properties in Jersey City, with plans to buy more. Today feels a lot like the early 1990s when we purchased properties in "fringe" neighborhoods in Manhattan. We were as optimistic about growth in the city then as we are today about Jersey City! I'm proud to be a part of the revitalization of a key part of the metro area. What time management strategies do you find to be the most effective for you? I read all my morning emails before I arrive at my desk so I can deal with them right away. I don't let emails pile up in my Inbox. I hate a full mailbox. What is the best advice you have received and who was it from? When I was a child, my mother always told me when we would go on long trips that the trip would be what we make it. It could be fun and pleasant or it could be boring and miserable. It's up to you to decide what kind of trip you want to make it. That's the single most important life lesson I ever learned. Life is what you make it. List 3 women that you would like to have drinks / dinner with and where would you go? I'd choose my two daughters and my sister. My daughters are far more interesting than most people I know. My sister is the kindest and funniest person I know. We'd go to my house at the beach...and maybe we'd invite Hilary Clinton. What is your favorite quote? This trip is what you make it! What did you want to be when you grew up? In charge.
