Scarano Architects designs 23-unit condominium at 90 North 5th St.

Attracting buyers with uniquely-crafted interiors, choice amenities and an impressive lobby that opens into a private residents' garden with a 10-foot-high, 45-foot-wide waterfall, Scarano Architect-designed luxury condominium development 90 North 5th St., in the heart of Williamsburg is now nearly one-third sold. Through such perceptive design elements as the creative use of two visible lot line walls, the posh condominium project delivers residences highlighted by generously proportioned space, high ceiling heights and oversized windows; many with mezzanines and balconies. Moreover, the building's five penthouses additionally benefit from double-height ceilings, duplex levels, and private roof terraces. With an unusual variety of layouts and floor plans, each of the 23 residences offers its own distinct spatial advantages. "We approached this design to reflect the character of the surroundings and thoroughly utilize the size and shape of the lot," said Robert Scarano, Jr., AIA, FARA, ALA. "The building's exterior has a sculptured appearance and the interior layouts are the opposite of cookie cutter. Our intent was to create different moments in each space and, at the same time, provide something new and exciting to the streetscape." The building's stucco facade is highlighted by numerous setbacks and atypical angles defined by the interplay between the interior and exterior. In addition to the residents' garden, amenities include a landscaped roof deck, state-of-the-art fitness center, residents' library, on-site parking and in-unit washer/dryer hook-ups. "This project also has the advantage of being in a prime location between the waterfront and the main strip of Bedford Avenue," said Scarano. "With construction completed., 90 North 5th Street is bringing in people who identify with the kind of individualist style that is the very heart of the Williamsburg neighborhood."
