VHB promotes Carmody to white plains director of transportation in White Plains office

According to VHB, a planning, transportation, land development, and environmental services firm with five offices in New York and New Jersey, Matt Carmody, PE, has been promoted to director of transportation in White Plains. Carmody will direct traffic, parking, bicycle, and pedestrian studies throughout the Hudson Valley, and will work closely with municipalities, institutions, developers, local and state transportation agencies. Carmody specializes in traffic impact analysis, bicycle/pedestrian planning, and transportation safety. He is a 15-year resident of Westchester County and has worked continuously on transportation projects in the Hudson Valley since the beginning of his career, including New York State Department of Transportation corridor and crash studies, New York Metropolitan Transportation Council transportation planning studies, the Tappan Zee Bridge EIS, and traffic, parking, and road safety studies for developers. His experience ranges throughout the Hudson Valley, including White Plains, Tarrytown, Yonkers, Rye, Cold Spring, New Paltz, Newburgh, Suffern, and Port Chester, among other communities. "Matt's broad transportation experience and local knowledge will be a valuable asset to our clients in the region," said John Canning, managing director, White Plains. "With his leadership, we will continue to expand our transportation planning and engineering services and better support our local planning and land development teams." Carmody, who has been with VHB for 13 years, is a frequent presenter on contemporary transportation safety issues at industry events, an FHWA-approved instructor of the course "Designing for Pedestrian Safety," and a published author on crash data and analysis.
