VHB helps Molloy College achieve sustainability and design goals

VHB assisted Molloy College with a number of designs in its first phase of transitioning to a more sustainable landscape. The college's first phase of work is part of a multi-year, $76 million improvement program to the 30-acre campus. Other goals for the campus improvement program include a study of traffic flow and parking to balance pedestrian safety with convenience. VHB designed and managed schematic level landscape improvements for Molloy's three-acre main entry court as part of a larger master planning effort. The design alternatives feature enhanced views to major campus buildings and entry court landscape treatments that will enable the college to achieve a more sustainable landscape featuring low maintenance, drought tolerant native plantings and biological soil improvements. Additional design goals for this campus gateway area include increased seasonal interest and greater biodiversity. VHB's services also included participating in the environmental impact analysis to provide testimony to the Village of Rockville Centre's board of trustees, planning board and zoning board of appeals.
