Two TVGA projects win awards from American Public Works Assoc.

The New York chapter, western branch of the American Public Works Association awarded both the U.S. Rte. 62/N.Y. Rte. 391 project and the Grand Island Bike Path project with 2009 Project of the Year Awards. The U.S. Rte. 62/N.Y. Rte. 391 project involved the complete reconstruction of 3 km of Main St. and Buffalo St. In addition, four roundabouts were constructed, landscaping and architectural elements were incorporated into the project including street lighting, imprinted colored concrete sidewalk, retaining wall/observation area and two green space park areas. TVGA Consultants performed the construction inspection on this project. The Grand Island Bike Path project involved the participation of the town of Grand Island, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (NYSOPRHP) and the Greater Buffalo Niagara Transportation Council (GBNRTC). TVGA provided preliminary and final design documents for a TEA-21-funded bikeway project. This project improved the use of island bike trails by widening and installing separate pathways; building roadside shoulders along East-West Park Rd. in Buckhorn State Park; and extending existing trails to intersect with other roads and pathways.
