Two New York City landmark office towers renowned for their sustainability accomplishments have been named the BOMA Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) winners of The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) award for 2011-2012. The award-winning buildings - the pre-war 230 Park Ave. and the '80s-generation 575 Fifth Ave. - represent "the best of the innovative practices that management teams can achieve when focused on management excellence," said BOMA/NY president Louis Mantia in announcing the New York winners. The awards will be presented at the BOMA MAC ceremony in Pittsburgh on April 20. The two buildings are immediately entered into the BOMA International competition, which will announce its winners on June 26, at the BOMA International annual conference. 230 Park Ave. - Operating Office Building (over 1 million s/f) The limestone and brick tower owned and managed by Monday Properties is a 21st Century landmark - it is NYC's first and oldest building to achieve Energy Star, BOMA 360 and LEED-EB Gold certifications, all made possible by a recently completed 6-year, $70 million renovation, and the implementation of standard-setting best management practices.
