Tuesday's Children honors Silverstein of Silverstein Properties at annual "Roots of Resilience Gala" on September 8th

New York, NY Tuesday’s Children, the non-profit serving the 9/11 community, military families of the fallen and communities worldwide affected by terrorism, will honor Larry Silverstein, chairman of Silverstein Properties, Inc., at its annual “Roots of Resilience Gala,” this year commemorating the 15th anniversary of Tuesday, September 11, 2001.  The fundraiser, taking place on Thursday, September 8th at The Pierre in Manhattan, is expected to raise $400,000.  More than 400 members of New York City’s philanthropic, business, civic and 9/11 communities are expected to attend. Silverstein will deliver the keynote speech and receive the Tuesday’s Children Resilience Award in recognition of his deep commitment to rebuild and revitalize The World Trade Center and Lower Manhattan. Terry Sears, executive director of Tuesday’s Children, said, “In New York’s commercial real estate industry, Larry Silverstein is an icon – respected and admired for his astute business acumen. To Tuesday’s Children and those we serve, Mr. Silverstein epitomizes the resilience and strength that has come to define the 9/11 community. We are proud to honor him.” Also being honored at the Roots of Resilience Gala are general Joseph Dunford, Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who will accept the Hero Award on behalf of the men and women of the Armed Forces. Via video, senator Kirsten Gillibrand will present the Keep The Promise Award to John Feal, founder of the FealGood Foundation, in appreciation of his support and advocacy on behalf of first responders. The Never Forget Award will be presented posthumously to honor of the memory of Shannon Forde, the former senior director of media relations for the New York Mets. Award-winning singer-songwriter Rachael Sage will perform her signature blend of soulful and innovative folk, pop and classical.  The gala is chaired by Tom Seaman, general counsel and chief compliance officer at Orbis International, and Jackie Seaman, vice president, VIP Services & global events, global marketing & communications at Stuart Weitzman.
